G.I. Joe: Retaliation Trailer #2

Following on the success of the first G.I. Joe film and the revival of the Hasbro toy franchise, March 29 will see the release of G.I. Joe: Retaliation. Featuring an ensemble cast that with a pedigree in action movies, Retaliation welcomes Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson, who join Channing Tatum, Arnold Vosloo, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce and Lee Byung-hun. Directed by Jon M. Chu, whose work has curiously enough revolved around his dance background (see Step Up 2 and Step Up 3D), the film looks like it will feature some pretty awesome fight choreography, aside from the prerequisite big guns and explosions the first movie wowed audiences with.

Daft Punk Signs to Columbia, Plans to Release New Album This Spring

After signing with Virgin Records back in 1996, French dance duo Daft Punk have now left the label and signed to Sony-owned Columbia. Additionally, they’ve announced a new album – marking news of the first non-soundtrack material since 2005′s Human After All. Confirmed details about the forthcoming fourth album are few and far between, although producer/Chic co-founder Nile Rodgers recently hinted that it would be out in the coming months and feature contributions from singer/songwriter Paul Williams, veteran bassist Nathan East, Feist collaborator Chilly Gonzales and legendary disco producer Giorgio Moroder. For Columbia, the signing is a major score for the venerable 125-year-old label – which also recently added Depeche Mode to its roster.

Danish luxury phone company aesir copenhagen has introduced its second mobile phone design. Developed in conjunction with design group KiBiSi, the new phone is touted as a luxury touchscreen smartphone. Building off the designs of the first phone, which was designed by Yves Behar, this new phone uses precision built parts and high-end materials including 24-karat gold. Targeted at wealthy consumers, we can’t help but hope that the stark, monolithic design trickles down to more budget-friendly phones.

Solenn Heusaff has been named Sexiest Woman Alive by Esquire Philippines. The model-actress will appear on the cover of the magazine’s first ever Sexiest Woman Alive issue in February 2013.

The magazine explains its choice in the introduction to the teaser video above, which it posted on YouTube on Sunday: “We’ve been seeing a lot of her these days, with ads for vodka, pizza and condos. But we’ve also been seeing her with a lot less – less clothing, inhibitions, and fear. Sexy has become synonymous with Solenn. How could we deny her the title?”

American designer Mike Lubrano has come up with a clever conceptualization of a Delorean outfitted as a New York City taxi cab. The design appears to be an ad for Nooka although his website shows otherwise.

NIKE KOBE 8 APPAREL COLLECTION

Accompanying the release of the Nike Kobe 8 System releasing later this month, the Kobe 8 apparel collection takes inspiration from Kobe Bryant’s eighth signature sneaker, as well as the Black Mamba himself. The collection, designed by Nike Basketball‘s Michelle Walter and Sean Butterly, features individual pieces that allow athletes to customize their looks and performance needs based on their personal preferences or playing conditions. The standout item takes the form of the Component Jacket, combining four separate pieces highlighted by a ripstop water-resistant outer shell with a dual zipper. Adaptive options include a performance fleece vest for ease of movement, a lightweight Dri-FIT full-sleeved hoody for next level warmth and performance, and a fleece full-zip jacket for maximum heat retention. On the aesthetic front, the graphic and color inspiration borrows the Black Mamba motif from the Kobe 8 System, with additional design notes giving the nod to the Year of the Snake. Look for the Nike Kobe 8 apparel collection to launch December 20th, 2012.

In Human Aliens‘ latest installment of manga meets streetwear, the characters of Naruto get a special makeover in an entire wardrobe of Rocksmith — and just like the past segments, they are sporting some serious footwear. A few original members of team 7 along with Kakashi himself can be seen wearing items from Rocksmith‘s Fall/Winter 2012 collection including a survival flannel button-up, a number of accessories adorned with a custom Mesa print and tops from the apt “Ninja” line. Antagonist Orochimaru comes back from the dead to make a special appearance dressed from head-to-toe in black.
